HockeyHKWS 25-26 Circular No. 12 - New Female Umpire Beginner Course

Dear Convenors,

We are pleased to announce a Beginner Umpire Course for female umpires. We highly recommend clubs that have not yet fulfilled their female umpire requirements to participate in this course (1 umpire per team). Please note that we currently do not foresee organizing any beginner courses in the near future.

The details are as follows:

Theory Session

• Date: Wednesday, 15 October 2025
• Time: 19:30–21:30
• Venue: Kowloon Cricket Club
• Language: English

Practical Session & Theory Test

• Date: Thursday, 16 October 2025
• Time: 19:30–21:30
• Venue: Kowloon Cricket Club
• Language: English

Registration Details

• Course Fee: HK$100
  • Payment should be made by bank transfer to HSBC Account 658-117619-838.
  • Upload your bank-in receipt (with your name written on it) via the registration form: Registration Form.
• Registration Deadline: Friday, 10 October 2025.
• Confirmation Timeline:
  • Participants who sign up on or before 1 October 2025 will receive confirmation by 3 October 2025.
  • Participants who sign up after 1 October 2025 will be notified by 13 October 2025.
• Capacity: Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum of 30 participants.

Important Requirements

1. Attendance: To obtain TP (Theory-passed) status, participants must attend both sessions and pass the theory test.
2. Preparation:
   • Download and study the latest FIH Rules (http://www.fih.ch/media/13350505/fih-rules-of-hockey-jan2022.pdf) and HockeyHKWS Bye-laws (http://www.hockey.org.hk/Content.asp?Uid=1393) before the course.
   • The course will not teach the rules in detail but will provide opportunities to ask questions.
   • The FIH mobile app includes a quiz feature, which is recommended for practice.
3. Practical Session: Bring a whistle for the practical session, which will include on-pitch demonstrations.
