HockeyHKMS 23-24 Circular No. 24 - Playing Safety

Dear Convenors and Umpires,

The MS committee is sorry to receive several injury reports in the first half of the season. Safety is always the first priority on the pitch and we do not want to see any accident happens again.

Following are some reminders to all players and umpires:

1.     Players should only play a lifted ball, whether it is over shoulder or not, in a safe condition that would not cause any injury to any player.

2.     Players should always control their sticks to ensure the stick actions, especially a swinging action, would not cause any injury to any player.

3.     Players should always consider not to tackle from a dangerous position.

4.     Umpires should anticipate and blow early for any potentially dangerous play, the common potentially dangerous plays include a lifted dangerous ball which may cause more than 2 players contacted, tackling which may involve body contacts, tackling from a dangerous position which involves the swinging of stick.

5.     If there is any injury involved ambulance service, please inform the committee via email within 24 hours after the match.

The committee hopes all injured players a speedy recovery and return to pitch soon.

Play safe and enjoy hockey.

Regards,
Francis Ho
